Well I covered a few ways you can automate your email campaigns so that you don’t spend your life making sure you meet your email deadlines. Now lets talk a bit about how you can manage your social media.
TIP #1: You can’t be all places at all times (nor should you be!)
Seriously, no matter how much people tell you HAVE to be on Snapchat… you really don’t . Pick the channel or channels that make the most sense for you and your business. Your best rule of thumb here? WHERE are your customers? If they are there, you should be too.
TIP #2 Not all your content needs to be posted in real time.
You do need to make sure you have a nice steady flow of content going out. (The pace and cadence of that content is a subject for another post.) You need to make sure you have a nice combination of real time content and scheduled content. There are tons of inexpensive content automation tools out there. I recommend you look into Tweetdeck or Hootsuite. Automating your content will free you to focus on the real world instead of one of your many screens!
TIP #3 Automate your listening
Social media is more than just pushing out stuff. It is also interaction. Make sure you are looking for customers and prospects and responding as quickly as possible. You can create a search for any term or hashtag in services like hootsuite and twitter and save them. Respond to these as soon as possible! This is the power of social media. If your customer tweets out how much they ADORE your brownie. Respond as soon as you can with a thank you! If a potential customer posts a question about something related to what you do or sell. Answer them. The more you put yourself in front of people who might buy your product the more likely they are to buy from you when the time comes.
TIP #4 You don’t have to create all your content
Social media is a sharing economy. If you want people to share your stuff, you need to share theirs. If you found some great content that you think it is valuable… share it with a comment that reflects your own point of view. If someone has a great project going… let people know about it! If you are a valuable resource not only will you be seen as leader in your field, you will also gain allies and customers
